This week, we’re excited to introduce Kaylen Pike, a talented makeup artist, a mom of two boys, and an absolute sweetheart! Kaylen’s bubbly personality and love for cats make her a joy to be around. She’s been in the beauty industry for 16 years, and her passion for makeup and helping others feel beautiful shines through in her work. Let’s get to know her a little better!
Let’s Get to Know Kaylen!
Well, I’ve always been drawn to the art of makeup from a young age. I just knew I had to be in the beauty field! Sixteen years later, I’m still here, and every day I love what I do.
What do you love most about being a makeup artist?
I love turning my chair around and the client seeing themselves, being in complete awe that this is them. That feeling will never get old! I love making women feel beautiful in their own skin.

How do you stay inspired and keep your makeup skills up to date?
Trends come and go, but pretty makeup will always be in. I keep up with trends through continuing education, Pinterest, and even YouTube. It’s a great learning tool!
What’s your favorite makeup look to create, and why?
This is a hard question because I love so many different looks, but if I had to choose one, I’d say a natural, healthy, radiant look is my daily go-to.
How do you balance being a mom with your career as a makeup artist?
It can be difficult at times, especially since most weddings fall on the weekends, but somehow I make it work!
Do you have any tips for moms who are also looking to pursue a career in makeup artistry?
Never give up and just practice, practice, practice. Take pride in your work!
How do you incorporate your love for makeup into your daily routine as a busy mom?
By applying it on myself every day. There are days when I don’t want to, but as a makeup artist, you never know if you might meet a potential client in public. I make time to get ready every day — dress for the job you want, right? I may be tired, but nothing a little concealer won’t fix!
What’s your quick and easy beauty routine for those busy mornings with the kids?
My quick go-to is sunscreen (always), tinted moisturizer, bronzer, brows, mascara, and don’t forget the gloss.
What’s your favorite beauty hack for moms on the go?
My favorite beauty hack is actually drinking collagen. Not only does it improve your skin from the inside out, but it gives your makeup a great foundation to work with.
How do you teach or encourage your children to appreciate their own unique beauty?
Being a boy mom, I teach them skincare and haircare. Even boys need to be told they are handsome!
What are your hopes and dreams for your children’s future?
I hope I can build and teach my children the tools they need to succeed in this world. I want them both to follow their dreams, but in order to succeed, instilling a mindset of never giving up when they’re young is a must. You can’t grow if you always stay comfortable.
