Parent’s Night Out @ Lake Houston Family YMCA

Drop off the kiddos and enjoy a night out on the town. Every night is themed with fun activities that include games, arts and crafts, and more.
This open to facility members and non-members. Register at www.ymcahouston.org/programs and select the ages that work for you. You can also stop into the Y to register. The cost is $12 per child and starts from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.

Roaring 20’s Party @ Nectar

HTXO Trail Scavenger Hunt @ Lake Houston Wilderness Park

What a better way to explore the park than to look for hidden things and take pictures of them!
Join us for a Wildlife Scavenger Hunt in the park!!
Here’s how it will work:
– Check in to Basecamp at the Group Site Chinquapin at 9:45 am
– Once everyone has arrived, we will form teams (you can come as a group or as an individual)
– Each team will be assigned a Mascot that must return back to Basecamp with you and appear in all photos you take as part of the Hunt requirements
– Each team will choose a team captain in charge of tracking points and managing time
– Each team will choose a photographer in charge of photo evidence of your findings
– Event Leader will communicate on time remaining with team captains
– Must be back at Basecamp by 12:30 for counting of results and winner announcement
– The winning team gets the glory and a prize!

We’ll have some prizes for the winning team.
PLUS, Wiseowl is giving away 1 Hammock! We’ll tell you how to win this hammock at the event. Many members of HTXoutdoors have Wiseowl hammocks so this is a prize that is being sought after!

Please bring with you:

• Bug spray/sunscreen
• Your phone!
• Camp chairs/blankets

Fees: This is a free event to attend but there is a $3 entrance fee per person. This is not a TX State Park so your park pass will not work. We will have a check-in spot at the event for you to receive your wristband to join us. The entrance fee is paid at the park when you arrive. Please allow extra time to get through the front gate & drive to the parking lot.

After the Hunt, we’ll hang out in the park for the HTXO 3rd Annual Party in the Party! FREE Tacos, yard games, rock paper scissors contest & more! Be sure to RSVP for that event too so we know how many tacos to make. 😀

Hiking in Houston does exist!! Let’s #optoutside this #sunday and hit the trails!

These are actual dirt trails with hills and surrounded by trees and some wildlife.

Total Mileage: 5-6 miles

Level of Difficulty: All levels but you should be able to walk about 25 minute miles.

We don’t leave anyone behind. The faster people will loop back to meet up with the rest of the group and we’ll regroup at intersections so everyone knows where to go. We’ll take short water breaks throughout the hike.

What to bring:
– Water
– Long pants
– Sun & bug protection
– Sturdy Shoes
– Snacks

After Hike:

– Lunch for a picnic in the park afterward
– Camping chair to relax

Dog-friendly for friendly dogs – must bring water and poop bags for your dog

Not Kid-friendly due to the length of the hike.

Fees:
There is a $3 entrance fee per person

This is not a TX State Park so your park pass will not work. We will have a check-in spot at the event for you to receive your wristband to join the hike. The entrance fee is paid at the park when you arrive. Please allow 10 minutes extra to get through the front gate & drive to the parking lot since it’s at the back of the park.

How to find the group:
There is a parking lot before the nature center on the left. Look for the HTXoutdoors and Bayou City Outdoors sign at the entrance of the parking lot. We’ll start the hike from there.

Parking:
There is plenty of parking near the start location. The parking lot is at the back of the park so please allow extra time to drive there and arrive on time for the hike.

Start Time:
Arrive at 10 am for a 10:15 am sharp start time.

– 2:00pm – 3:00pm is a multi-sport class for ages 7-12 years (coach and child)
– 3:00pm – 4:00pm there is a Basketball FUNdamentals class for ages 3-6 years (coach and child)
-3:00pm – 4:00pm there is a Basketball Skills and Gameplay class for ages 7-12 years (coach and child)
– 4:00pm – 4:45pm is a Parent & Child multi-sport class for ages 16 months – 3 years (Parent participates)

Multi-Sport Class: Multi-Sport classes keep children moving and engaged and send them home with new skills from a different sport each class. These well-rounded classes provide an amazing foundation for a lifetime of active living bundling soccer, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, golf and tennis into one comprehensive package. That’s eight sports per season for one registration!
