Saturday Business Feature: Hugs & Bubbles | Kingwood Moms

Hi! My name is Jessica Huggins.

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in the area?

I grew up in Spring, but I’ve lived in Houston since college.

Tell us about your business.

My business is Hugs & Bubbles. We hand-clean car seats and strollers. We pick up, hand-wash and deliver.

What brought you to do your business?

My daughter got sick in our car on my birthday when I was on my way to visit family. I had just cleaned the seats two days before and was not looking forward to doing it again. My sister-in-law mentioned how great it would be if there was a service that would take care of the cleaning for us. I looked it up that night, and there wasn’t anything like it in town. I started Hugs & Bubbles two weeks later.

When did the idea of creating your business start? How long have you been in business?

The idea started in mid-June, and we started serving families at the beginning of July.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?

I love being able to utilize different skills I’ve acquired over the years at various jobs. I feel challenged and inspired every day. Additionally, the entrepreneurship community in the greater Houston area is beyond belief. I’ve met the best people, and everyone is so supportive.

You work full time somewhere else as well, Could you tell us a little bit about that?

I homeschool our middle child, which is a lot of work. It is so rewarding, and I’m grateful that this work allows me to put her education first.

How many kids and how old are they?

We have three beautiful girls. Marley is 10, Maia is 8, and Maddox is 19 months old.

What is your favorite part about what you do?

I love meeting the families that we service. I also love knowing that I’m helping to keep children healthy and safe.

What does the future look like for you and your business?

We are hoping to expand and offer job opportunities to other families. We are loving this work, and I am so excited to see what the future holds.

What advice would you give to others that want to start something new?

Believe in yourself. No matter how big the idea seems. It’s going to be a lot of work. You’re going to lose sleep. But if you find something that you love, go for it! Make sure you do your research, make sure you have a plan and give it 100%.

Any advice for juggling all the things in daily life?

I recommend building family time into whatever schedule you have. Starting a new business is time- and energy-consuming. It’s so important to make time for your family. It reinvigorates you and reminds you of why you started in the first place.
