Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Kingwood?:
I was born in Canada… but grew up in Clear Lake and we moved to Kingwood in 2015!
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Foster-13mo
One thing people would be surprised to know about you… that I’m an extreme home-body, I love being at home much more than traveling/fancy work dinners etc..unless I could bring my husband and baby everywhere with me!
What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?
Either a massage or a Nordstrom date with my mom!
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Crustless bread. ENOUGH SAID! but honestly, Daycare… I can have a flexible schedule most days but work full time.. I try and keep him on routine even if that means I get an extra 30 minutes to myself that gets me through the week! Also, he LOVES being at daycare with his best friends! Win-win!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the
corporate world? Please share! BOTH!
My full-time role is in e Spirits industry working for Remy Cointreau! I am the Houston area manager and my new side hustle/super fun gig is selling Shrimp and Grits Kids Clothing, I am the Houston Sales Rep! I also volunteer for ‘Communities in Schools’ which helps to keep children at risk in school!
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
It honestly took a bit of time to LOVE Kingwood, but have really grown to, especially after having my son, I immediately felt a greater connection to the women in this area. I’ve met some awesome ladies over the last 3 years that I work out with, bounce mommy problems off of, have dinner with, etc! I feel a bigger sense of connection to this area than I ever have! I love getting to know other moms in the area through meetups like Kingwood Moms puts on!
What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering,
working, etc)? Keep it fun, or it won’t be worth continuing!
When I’m focusing on keeping my job as fun as possible, I am also most productive and that has been the same with Shrimp and Grits! As for being a mom, also keep it fun and don’t stress too much!
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
To travel more and take that job transfer… I love being in Houston but am secretly wishing I would have been more open to leaving while I was without kids!
What is your proudest mommy moment?
Realizing breastfeeding was not for me and making a change and not being ashamed or feeling guilty about switching to formula. It was the best thing to do for ME and my baby!
Greatest gift about being a mom?
Being able to watch Foster grow is the greatest gift! He’s such a funny, determined little guy and very social! I love that he is always trying to make friends even at 13mo!
Best mom hack that makes mommin’ easier?
outsourcing a few items like a pool company and cleaning service gives me more time to enjoy with my family! My husband and I looked at Overall time ‘wasted’ vs $ and these two made the most sense to outsource at this point in our lives! It’s helped so much!
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
Connecting people to each other through superior brands! I love being involved with the restaurants in our area and developing the best cocktails! I’ve been working with Chachis to make their margaritas better than ever and also looking forward to Sharky’s reopening and their cocktail list! I absolutely love planning events that bring people together and that’s a bit of what I get to do on a daily basis!
What is your favorite thing to do in the HKA area?, having our growing group of friends over for pool days, Orangetheory, different activities at the Country Club and trying new restaurants in Houston… I’m super excited that more are coming to our area!
