Meet A Mom: Megan Law- LimeLife by Alcone  | Kingwood Moms

Megan Law- LimeLife by Alcone

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Kingwood?
I was born in Louisiana and moved to the Kingwood area when I was in 5th grade. I did move away for college but moved back after. I’ve been in the area for almost 25 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have 1 son Rider (9) and 2 daughters Avery (4) and Alex (1).

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I have a phobia of going to the bathroom in the dark. I have to turn the light on every single time. When I was little, I saw a news story of a person finding a snake in their toilet and ever since then I have to see into the toilet before I can go.

What is your go-to activity for yourself for pampering or for fun?
I believe it is so important for moms to take time for themselves and do things that make them feel good. I love getting my nails and toes done and squeezing in a nice long massage any chance I can get. I also love getting the girls together and try to have a girls night at least once a month!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying! When things get tough or crazy I like to put on some music and have a dance party.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I am a Beauty Guide with LimeLife by Alcone. LimeLife provides all natural skincare and professional makeup for the everyday woman. I have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and an MBA and spent many years in the corporate world. I left when I was pregnant with my second child to be a stay at home mom. I started my business as a way to help occupy my time and quickly fell in love with what I was doing. I have found that many people do not properly take care of their skin or wear makeup simply because they have never been taught how to. I get the privilege of educating teens and women on how to take care of their skin and how to apply makeup in a way that enhances their natural beauty. I’ve grown my business mostly through social media and making Live Facebook videos but I also get to sit down with my local customers and let them touch, feel and see the products and teach them techniques they want to learn. I have also had the honor of providing makeup services for my customers family pictures, weddings, company gala’s and even for a night out on the town. I have grown a large team of women and have been able to teach them everything I know to be successful entrepreneurs. Helping women gain self-confidence, self-love, improve their skin, learn how to enhance their natural beauty and even provide for their families has become my purpose in life. What started as a hobby and a creative outlet has turned into a very successful business and a passion that burns deeply within me and I get to do all of it from my home with my children.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The community as a whole has been incredibly supportive. From businesses allowing me to partner with them to share my products and do customer appreciation events for them to word of mouth referrals of my products and makeover services to being models for my portfolio, the community has really stepped up and helped me grow my business.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?
Make a schedule! Block off time to work, time to exercise, family time, date night or whatever else fills up your day. When you are with your family, be in the moment! Be present and make sure you are giving your children your attention. I work a lot after my kids go to bed or during nap time.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Make sure you slow down and enjoy every moment. They go by way too fast.

What is your proudest mommy moment?
Oh gosh! My kids make me proud every single day. My proudest mommy moment would probably have to be something that happened just last week. My oldest Rider is a Type 1 Diabetic. He had the opportunity to meet with our US Representative Dan Crenshaw along with 2 other T1D kids on behalf of the JDRF advocacy group and share his story of his diagnosis and what it is like to live day to day with diabetes. He was able to advocate for himself in hopes of federal funding for diabetes research.

What is your favorite thing to do in the HKA area?
Date night! My husband and I love food and we love that there are so many great food options to choose from in the area and don’t have to drive too far for a good meal.
