34th Annual Pioneer Day

Join Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center for live folk music, historical reenactments, and skill demonstrations during its 34th Annual Pioneer Day.
Learn how Texas settlers and Native Americans lived in the 1830s by watching live blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and woodworking demonstrations. Enjoy programs covering American Indian lore, camp life, wild edibles, and survival skills.
Activities are only available to those who book tours of the Akokisa Indian Village and the Redbud Hill Homestead. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and last approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Tours are limited to 50 participants.
Following each tour, guests can view a battle reenactment between the Texan and Mexican army at noon and 3:30 p.m. Tours and battle reenactments require separate reservations beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, by calling the Nature Center at 281-446-8588. Premade craft kits will be available for kids to take home.
Masks are recommended for outdoor programs and required when entering any building at Jones Park
